Implementation · University library network
One Finder experience across four campus libraries.
The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos brings five campus libraries together as a single university library. Finder runs today in four of them, with the same wayfinding experience in each and one place to manage them all.

Five libraries, one service.
The libraries at Alcorcón, Aranjuez, Fuenlabrada, Madrid-Vicálvaro and Móstoles form a single university library: one catalogue, one set of rules and one card for all of them. That creates a problem a single library does not have. A reader who finds an item needs to know not only which shelf it is on but which building, and the five libraries have different floors and different collections.
Finder is installed in four of the five. Each has its own floor plan and its own named zones in the dashboard, and all of them share the same experience: the same journey from a catalogue result to the point on the floor where the material is.
On the catalogue the library already uses.
The URJC university library works with Alma and Primo, and takes part in the working groups of Consorcio Madroño. Finder replaces neither: it reads the location and call number the record already holds and adds the location view beside the result. It is the same integration as at the Humanities Library of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, on the same catalogue environment.
A network is managed from one place.
Floor plans, zones, languages, the content on each display and the team’s permissions are all managed from the Finder dashboard, per library and across the network. When a collection is reorganised, that library’s zones are redrawn and the catalogue is untouched.
What changes day to day.
Finder does not add one more tool to learn. The feature appears inside the catalogue that students and staff already use every day, and takes them from there to the item.
- People find their way between the campuses, and inside each library, without having to ask.
- More independence: the location and the route are where the search already was.
- Less pressure at the desk from questions about where something is.
- That time goes back to the work only the team can do.
